Road Closure

Provision for Temporary Closure of Public Road

Wicklow County Council hereby gives notice that the following public road will be closed, from Thursday, 13th July, 2017 until Friday, 11th August, 2017, from 08.00 until 20.00 each day.

Road to be closed:
Closure of road from St. Kevin’s Terrace, Ballintemple to junction with R747.

Alternative Routes:
R747 from Woodenbridge to Aughrim, then the L6199 through Killacloran and the L6197 through Coolahullen back to Ballycoog.

This road closure is necessary in order to facilitate the installation of 38kv grid connection from Ballycumber Windfarm to Kilmagig substation, Avoca.

Wicklow County Council hereby gives notice that the following public road will be closed on Saturday, 15th July, 2017, from 18.00 hours to 00.00hours and on Sunday, 16th July, 2017, from 13.00 hours to 00.00 hours.

Road to be closed:
Main Street, Arklow, from the junction of Bridge Street, Main Street, Lower Main Street, at the bottom of the town and at Main Street, Parade Ground, Coomie Lane, at the top of the town.

Alternative Routes:
Northbound traffic:
For traffic entering the town from the south side (i.e. from N11 Junction 21, Wexford Road, Coolgreaney, etc.,) and wishing to make its way across the Avoca River to the north side of town, traffic will be redirected as follows:-

  • Divert from the roundabout on the Wexford road at Carysfort National School, down Yellow Lane, Abbey Street, Back Street, Lower Main Street, Tinnahask, Harbour Road, South Quay and right of South Quay and out onto Bridge Street and continue right as normal.
  • On the Wexford Road, at the Yellow Lane junction, local access will be allowed to continue down the Wexford Road.
  • Also at the roundabout at the Vale Road, Coolgreaney Road, Upper Main Street and Wexford Road, local access only will allowed onto the Upper Main Street

Southbound traffic:
For traffic entering the town from the North side (i.e. from N11 Junction 20, Brittas Bay, etc.) and wishing to make its way across to the South side of town, traffic will be redirected as follows:-

  • Follow the route from Lower Main Street, Old Chapel Ground, Abbey Street, Yellow Lane and back onto the Wexford Road at the roundabout at Carysfort National School.

Appropriate signage will be in place along the diversion routes. Marshals will also be in place at junctions along each diversion route to ensure that traffic flows without any issues. This road closure is necessary in order to facilitate the holding of the Arklow Seabreeze Festival.
