Wicklow Film Exhibition to take place in Wicklow Town

Thursday 4th July, 2024

Screen Wicklow has partnered with local production company Long Story Short to present an exhibition entitled ‘Showcasing Film in Wicklow’. The exhibition, which is free to attend, will take place in the Assembly Hall on Bachelors Walk, Wicklow Town on the weekend of Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July.

The exhibition will include props, posters and displays on the heritage of film shot in Wicklow, as well as some wonderful film costumes provided by the Irish Costume Archive Project.

The exhibit will coincide with the Leinster Fleadh, which will take place in Wicklow on the same weekend, and has been planned in consultation with The Boathouse Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and with the assistance of Wicklow Municipal District.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council Cllr. Paul O’Brien said, “This showcase will be a great opportunity for the people of Wicklow to see and learn about the rich film heritage of Wicklow. It will be a great addition to the festivities on the Leinster Fleadh weekend”.

Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council Emer O’Gorman said, “The thriving screen sector in Wicklow is built on a strong tradition of film-making and this exhibition highlights the many factors that have made the County so attractive to film makers over the years.”

Running from 10.30am to 5pm on both days, all are welcome to attend the exhibition.
