A Draft County Wicklow Heritage Plan 2024-2029 has been prepared with the assistance of the Wicklow Heritage Forum to reflect the views of the public and stakeholders expressed during the ‘Pre-draft’ stage of the consultation process (May to July 2024).
During the pre-draft consultation phase organisations, relevant state and semi state agencies, local heritage and community groups, and the public were invited to give their views in relation to Wicklow’s heritage. Five information clinics were hosted by the Heritage Officer in Wicklow, Arklow, Blessington, Bray and Greystones branch libraries. An explanatory video was produced, and submissions were invited through an online survey (75 responses received) and in writing (11 written submissions were received). The Draft Plan was agreed by the members of Wicklow County Council on 4th November 2024.
The Draft Plan sets out a framework for the work of Wicklow Heritage Office, in partnership with groups and agencies, to manage and protect natural, built and cultural heritage in County Wicklow over the next five years. This will be the fourth Heritage Plan for Wicklow. It aims to build on the achievements of the previous plans and is written in the context of the national Heritage Plan, Heritage Ireland 2030, and the Heritage Council Strategic Plan 2023- 2028 ‘Our Place in Time’.
Submissions and observations to the Draft Plan are invited until 5.00 pm on Friday 3rd Jan 2025 via:
