County Wicklow Energy and Retrofit Roadshow comes to Bray for Climate Action Week

Wicklow County Council in collaboration with the LOETB Mount Lucas, SEAI and KORE are bringing the Mount Lucas Retrofitting Rig to Bray until Friday 18th October. A fully-equipped mobile NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) unit that allows training on energy upgrades and retrofitting will be parked at the South Beach Car Park, Strand Road, Car Park, Bray, County Wicklow A98NR29 over the course of the 5 days. 

A range of formal and informal training sessions will be delivered from the mobile NZEB rig, while the Martello will host an NZEB Fundamental Awareness one day course (City & Guilds) and a Circular Economy Course on the Thursday.

The Mount Lucas Energy Truck, which will be located on the Prom in Bray for the full week where members of the public can walk in and are welcome to find out more about Retrofits, Insulation, Air Tightness, Solar PV, Heat Pumps and Ventilation Systems. These systems will reduce energy demand and carbon emissions while improving comfort and saving money.

Darina Currid from KORE will be available on Thursday 17th October to discuss the One Stop Shop Grant Process. Simon Whelan (SEAI Mentor) will be available to discuss SEAI Grants and Sustainable Energy Communities on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Cathal Bermingham and other members of Mount Lucas will also be present at the Energy Truck for the week to help answer any public queries. All events are free of charge.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr. Paul O’Brien, said, “Launching the Mount Lucas Energy Truck located here at the Prom in Bray is a great way for Wicklow County Council to commence our Climate Action Week. The Energy Truck will allow free access to members of the public to see various energy saving technologies and find out about various grants in order to reduce energy costs in their home.”

Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council Emer O’Gorman outlined “The five day road show located in Bray our county’s most populated town, will provide an excellent opportunity for homeowners, construction workers, community groups and individuals to learn more about retrofitting and energy saving during our Climate Action Week.”
