Wicklow County Council and the Local Enterprise Office Wicklow are excited to announce an upcoming event hosted by the East Coast Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Network. This event is designed to empower local businesses to seize the vast opportunities emerging in Ireland's offshore renewable energy sector. It will take place on 28th November, 2024, and aims to bring together key stakeholders, industry leaders, and members of the local business community to explore how they can contribute to and benefit from the growing offshore energy supply chain.
The primary goal of the East Coast ORE Network is to support local businesses in building capacity within the offshore supply chain, fostering regional economic growth, and ensuring that the local community benefits from offshore renewable energy projects currently in development. The event will feature presentations and discussions with guest speakers from Dublin Array/RWE, SSE, and Codling Wind Park, along with practical insights from network member Tim Greenwood of Alpha Marine, who will share first-hand experiences in securing offshore energy opportunities.
Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council Paul O’Brien commented, “This is a pivotal time for Wicklow and the entire east coast. The East Coast Offshore Renewable Energy Network represents an enormous opportunity for local businesses to be part of Ireland’s transition to a more sustainable energy future. Our goal is to equip our businesses and workforce with the information, resources, and connections they need to thrive in this rapidly evolving sector. I encourage all who are interested to join us for this event, learn about the opportunities, and connect with industry leaders.”
Attendees will also gain valuable insights into upskilling opportunities in the offshore energy sector, with training providers available to discuss how local businesses and individuals can enhance their expertise to meet industry needs. Networking sessions throughout the day will allow participants to connect directly with stakeholders, experts, and potential partners in the offshore energy community.
Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, Emer O’Gorman added, “This event aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainable economic development in Wicklow and to building a strong, locally-rooted supply chain for offshore renewable energy. The offshore energy projects being developed off Ireland’s east coast present a once-in-a-generation opportunity to drive growth, innovation, and resilience in our local economy. We’re excited to support our community in preparing for and benefiting from this dynamic industry.”
