European Union (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations 2014 (S.I. No. 149 of 2014)
These Regulations give effect to the provisions of European Parliament and Council Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment in order to contribute to sustainable production and consumption by, as a first priority, the prevention of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and, in addition, by the preparing for re-use, recycling and other forms of recovery of such wastes so as to reduce the disposal of waste and to contribute to the efficient use of resources and the retrieval of valuable secondary raw materials.
WEEE retailers
Since August 2005, retailers of electrical and electronic products have been affected by EU legislation on waste electrical and electronic equipment.
