Part 8– Proposed GYM Extension Coral Leisure, Station Road, Wicklow Town, Co. Wicklow.

In accordance with the provisions of PART XI, of the Planning Acts 2000 (as amended) and Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2000 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Wicklow County Council proposes to undertake:

The proposed extension is 380 m² gross internal floor area (GiFA). The extension will comprise the extended village changing area, gymnasium and aerobics room. The gymnasium extension and the Aerobics space will replace the existing prefabricated building. 

The existing prefabricated unit, which has a gross internal floor area of 165m², will be removed. The extension will add a further 211m² of gross internal floor area on the site, following the removal of the prefab. 

The proposed extension will be finished in a metal composite material, with rendered blockwork and Paralon roof membrane, or similar. The palette of finishes proposed will be in keeping with the existing building. Aluminium framed glazing and door frames will be dark grey in colour. External treatments will include pressed metal balustrade with handrail and concrete footpaths.

In accordance with Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001(as amended), Wicklow County Council has concluded from a screening determination that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and that an Environmental Impact Assessment is not required.

Where any person considers that the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment, they may, at any time before the expiration of 4 weeks beginning on the date of publication of this notice, apply in accordance with the provisions of article 120 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have such effects. 

Plans and particulars of the proposed development may be inspected (or purchased at a fee, not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy) at the offices of Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Station Road, Wicklow Town, Co. Wicklow, during opening hours Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays, for a period between the 5th June 2024 and the 2nd of July 2024.  Also, the plans and particulars of the proposed development are available to view on:  www.wicklow.ie/Living/consultationhub  

Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed developments dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated can be made at: www.wicklow.ie/Living/consultationhub or in writing to the undersigned clearly marked “Wicklow Leisure Centre-Proposed Gym Extension”.

All submissions must be received on or before the 17th of July 2024 by 5 pm.
