The Heritage Office has co-ordinated a number of initiatives to record Co. WIcklow's traditional buildings and to increase awareness of these as a unique aspect of our heritage. These projects have been co-funded by Wicklow County Council and The Heritage Council as actions of the County Wicklow Heritage Plan.
Traditional Buildings of Wicklow Survey
A representative survey of 135 vernacular buildings of Co. Wicklow was commissioned in 2007. The aim of the project was to identify characteristic features of Wicklow's traditional rural building stock and to compile records of this under-recorded and often overlooked aspect of our heritage.
Traditional Buildings Of Co. Wicklow exhibition
A series of panels describing the characteristics of the vernacular architecture of Co. Wicklow formed a public exhibition that was held in 2009.
