Parking Bye Laws

The towns covered by these byelaws include Bray, Greystones, Wicklow & Arklow.

Members of the public are reminded that these Wicklow Co Co Parking Bye-Laws 2017 came into effect from 31/8/17.

The assistance of all members of the public in compliance with Wicklow Co Co Parking Bye-Laws 2017 is appreciated.

Following a period of public consultation, in which over 250 submissions were considered, Wicklow County Council have now updated Bye-Laws in relation to Parking countywide. The towns covered by these byelaws include Bray, Greystones, Wicklow & Arklow.

Wicklow Co Co Parking Bye-Laws 2017 were adopted by Wicklow County Council members at a meeting held on 12th June 2017 and came into effect on Monday 28th August 2017.

Some of the benefits & changes included in the Byelaws :

  • 15 Minute grace parking at commencement of parking in all areas – this will greatly facilitate all users and allow ample time to obtain requisite parking ticket from nearby machines. 
  • Pay Parking times now commence at 10am in areas of Greystones, Wicklow & Arklow. Bray town remains unchanged
  • Wicklow Town – Reduction of daily charge to 50c per day at Murrough Car Park and additional pay parking at areas in St. Dominicks Rd. & Monkton Row
  • Arklow Town – All day parking now available at Castle Park and also River walk
     
How to pay a parking fine

Parking fines issued in Arklow, Bray, Greystones and Wicklow can be paid in the following ways:-

Online

Click on the following link here to pay a Parking Fine.  Please note you will need the parking ticket number and vehicle registration number.  You can only pay online 24 hours after parking fine has been issued. 

By Post

Payment can be made by cheque, bank draft or postal order made payable to Wicklow County Council.  Postal address: Bray Municipal District, Civic Offices, Main Street Bray, Co Wicklow.  Please include your parking ticket or quote the parking ticket number.

By Telephone

In Person At

  • Bray Municipal District, Civic Offices, Main Street Bray, Co Wicklow 
    Cash Office opening hours Monday to Wednesday 9am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm (excluding Bank Holidays) and Thursday & Friday 9am – 5pm (open lunchtime).
  • Revenue Desk, Wicklow County Council, Station Road, Wicklow Town, Co. Wicklow – opening hours 9am -5pm
  • Arklow Municipal District, 1 Castle Park, Arklow, Co Wicklow – opening hours 9am to 4pm
To Appeal a parking fine

An appeal must be submitted:

  • by clicking HERE and submitting the form

 Or

  •  in writing to: Parking Department, Bray Municipal District, Civic Offices, Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow

An appeal should contain:

  • Ticket number
  • Clear and valid explanation for appeal
  • Location where ticket was issued
  • Contact details

 Please note:    

  • Appeals must be submitted within 28 days from date of issue of your parking fine.
  • Submitting an appeal DOES NOT halt the 28 Day Increment Process. 
Parking Fine Charges

The following charges apply if paid within 28 days of issue of the Fixed Charge Offence Notice. 

Offence & Fine Amount

  • For the range of parking offences - €40
  • For non-display of correct tax disc - €60
  • For illegal parking in a disabled parking bay - €150

These amounts plus 50% will apply if paid within the next 28 day period.

If payment is not received within the 56 day period legal proceedings will be initiated.

Parking permits

Parking permit application forms are available online for Bray, Arklow, Greystones and Wicklow. The applicant must meet all the required criteria, and must supply the relevant documentation as specified in the application form. The relevant application forms can be downloaded below.
